In Twos — a partnership between two small communities
A partnership between two small communities is not a scaled-down version of a large one. It is a different creature. It has no coordinator and no dedicated budget, it runs on two or three volunteers with other jobs, and instead of a steering committee it has a group chat.
And it has one great advantage the large partnerships do not: you can know everyone by name. That is not a detail — it is the whole difference, and it is what this tool is built around.
The three parts
Why the third list matters most
In a large partnership the relationship is held by structure: a committee, a budget, procedures. In a small one it is held by people — which makes the greatest risk not a lack of funding but a change of volunteers. When whoever began the relationship steps back, there is usually nowhere to hand it on, because it was never written down.
This list is the handover file. The tool counts the connections for you and says what the number means: one is a beginning; three no longer depend on a single person.
A rich annual plan nobody will open in February
Three things, a name against each, and a date for the next conversation
When to move to the larger tools
Once a committee has formed, once there is a budget line, and once what happens in a year can no longer be counted on one hand — that is the moment to move to the partnership document and the partnership year. Until then, one page is better.
Tomorrow morning
Open the tool and fill in only the third part — who knows whom. Five minutes, and you will have the single most important picture a small partnership can hold. The rest of the page can wait for the next conversation.
